Falling in Love with Freedom

Take the leap of faith and find your freedom!!!

A new season has begun and I can feel the change in the air. It is amazing to me how each season feels brand new, though it has come regularly every year. With summer winding down, I find the physical hustle of the summer slowly fading and I naturally begin to draw into my home. Usually, cozying up to the fireplace holds greater appeal.

This fall is different, though. I am experiencing a great shift in my family right now that is causing an increase in activity. I’m not settling into known comfort, but pressing through challenges and forcing myself to move out of my comfort zone. Although parts are hard, I’m so EXCITED!!! I see a greater level of freedom coming into my life, my husband’s life and our girls’ lives. When I see this greater freedom, I realize how chained down much of my life has been. Have you taken a look lately at your own life to see if you are allowing comfort to mask certain chains in your life?

Here’s what I’m learning: To truly live the adventurous life that God calls us to and promises, we have to be ready to move when He says move. This adventurous life is one that fulfills the desires of our hearts, that uses all the gifts that God has given us, that moves us on the path of the purpose God created us for and that requires we give up everything. Does that sound too radical to you?

God says we must give up our lives to gain them. My understanding of that is we must be willing to give up our plans, our timetables, our comfort and breathlessly pursue the One who knows why we are here taking up space and breathing air on this beautiful earth. He is the ONLY one who can answer the question of, “Why am I here?” If we let the world or other people explain why we are here, we will be deceived. He is the only one.

So, how do we pursue Him? We make time to read the Bible and meditate on what we read each day. We stop talking and actually listen for His voice with the expectation that we will hear him. We surround ourselves with a community of friends who will encourage us when times are hard, who will speak God’s truth in our lives when we are having a hard time hearing it for ourselves. We obey when he asks us to do something, even if we don’t want to or don’t understand. We TRUST God and take Him at his Word. This is the hardest part. But the result is so good! The result is:


Freedom from worry and stress! Freedom to become fully who you are meant to be. Freedom to be filled with love. Freedom to give that love away and be filled again. Freedom to be generous, knowing you will always be taken care of. Freedom from the judgement of others. Freedom from toiling away at an ordinary life.

You were created to take part in the greatest rescue mission known to man! Your part is crucial! Your freedom liberates countless others. Do you have the courage to step up and claim your freedom, claim your victory?! It is waiting for you. He is waiting for you. He is waiting to overwhelm you with His love and release you into the life you’ve always dreamed of.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and to not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” – Galatians 5:1

Do one thing today that draws you closer to God and sets a new part of you free. You are meant to be fully loved and fully free!!!
